The Tiny News Collective is hiring its first Collective Fellow to support our mission- and member-driven work and build capacity and develop talent in the journalism support ecosystem.
With this fellowship, Tiny News Collective seeks to work with early-career professionals with 1 to 3 years of experience who want to increase their knowledge and skills in community-rooted media, community management, nonprofit management and the journalism support landscape.
At Tiny News Collective, our members come to us to help them figure out how to use their limited time and resources, whether it’s business basics, their first hire, product strategy, revenue generation or balancing the responsibilities of being a founder in a small organization. Along the way, they create a community rooted in mutual aid, accountability and respect.
The ideal candidate has a growth mindset and finds purpose in helping others thrive. This candidate is eager to understand the needs of small news business owners and will dive in to help our small, remote team foster the growth and development of the Collective.
“With this position, we will not only increase our capacity to support news founders but also aim to serve the field-building needs of the journalism landscape,” said Amy L. Kovac-Ashley, executive director of Tiny News Collective. “Journalism support and service organizations require professionals with a holistic view of the field, and we believe that this fellowship will help plant seeds for understanding and anticipating the needs of news organizations to better serve them.”
We are grateful for the generous support of our staff and members by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, Ford Foundation and the Andrew and Julie Klingenstein Family Fund.
